Catching up...with baby steps


I made this little sack for my new nephew...of course I haven't posted in a while and now he's 2 years old. Just kidding, it hasn't been THAT long, but he is 2 months old : )


I hope this fit him at some point, though not anymore! While I was making it, I was thinking how small it seemed, but I sized it up against a little 5 week old and it seemed like it would be alright. I don't know for sure.

Specifics:

Yarn: Berroco Comfort DK
Color: green
Washing: machine wash and dry until nearly dry
Pattern: Mrs. Brak's Drawstring Bottom Baby Kimono with Raglan Shaping by Georgia Porter
Mods: I made a crochet chain to tie it....and a matching little hat
Buttons: from a crazy little italian shop!

There's an Italian woman at the library who directed me to a button/fabric store. There were dozens and dozens of boxes stacked up to the ceiling. Each box had a dozen or so little buttons stuck on the front of the lid. The idea was to point to a box that might have something of interest and then the sales lady would get it down and help you. I found the buttons straight away and I love them. Of course, I forgot to sew on the spare : (

Overall the pattern was seriously CUTE! I would definitely be interested in more sizing information next time.

I decided not to place a scarey-looking dolly in it for picture purposes, you can thank me later : )

wow! Super cute 'capers' pictures! I LOVE the cute girl in the tub and tough TKD pictures! However, my new all time favorite dog picture - Fonzy in the tutu:-)!! And now, after visiting your beautiful knitting blog, I completely understand the knitted bats craze - they are completely GREAT!

Move over Granny....

So, I have mentioned the "c" word before and now I have officially finished a crochet scarf- albeit a while ago. Someohow the post got lost in the din. Interestingly, My Man, really isn't a fan of this scarf soley because it's crochet. How amusing that in his mind crochet is linked with Grannies! Apparently there are others who share his feelings. 70's Kitty Hat

Did I really never publish this? What a blast from the past. All I remember is that the hat fit The Fonz the best :) I guess it's along the line of the pussycat hat!

Z's shawl....

This is one of those skeins- the Socks That Rock lightweight. The colors are sweet and very gentle. Here it is modeled by my elder daughter, but the little one has laid claim to it. For whatever reason, she calls it her own. I am almost starting to relax enough about my paranoia of them having things around their neck, that I just might be able to let her wear it once in a while. She can have it, but I prefer her stuffed cat wear it. I love working with this yarn- it's got a great texture! As you can see in this pic, it's too bulky to wear as a neck wrap, but it seems too small to use as a shawl. I wish I would have gotten two skeins for this one. Who knew? And it's all just part of the great experiment to find a little neck wrap that is NOT a dickie!
