Round and around again..

I hereby swear I will never knit with Karabella Aurora 8 again. Even though it is soft and wonderful, it can be hateful when it comes to gauge. I think I said earlier that the gauge really changed after it was washed. What I should have done was to wash all the yarn and then re-knit the gauge swatch and then knit the sweater. (Who thinks that sounds like fun???) What I tried to do (and failed) was to knit the gauge swatch, then calculate how much bigger the swatch became after washing, then make the size that would fit AFTER washing. The opposite of shrink-to-fit. Uh, yeah, not so much. The sweater was just too small.

I decided to frog it and start over. It wasn't fun to have all that kinky weird yarn. Then I gave the yarn a bath, and with the trusty help of my two elves, dried the hanks. Now, re-knitting the sweater bigger, I think I am going to run out of yarn! Lovely. By the way, I didn't re-do the sleeves even though every OCD bone in my body wanted to. So, there they are, in a tighter gauge, and then a looser gauge at the top. I don't care who notices, not that anyone will, I want to be done. I will go as far as I can and then see about getting more yarn. My lovely sister has already checked the store way back in Seattle and they don't have anymore. Of course, I would consider knitting a shawl/scarf thing with aurora 8- it's soo soft and wonderful....

Now, now, here, you know you will knit again with aurora. The sweater is beautiful and your first time with this yarn, so next time you'll figure better. It is a beautiful sweater and I love the yarn. Jump the Ultimate Dog Show is in Cleveland today. All the dogs are recues mostly mixed, They are amazing...I watched a little of their show. I am getting ready to go out into the snow to see just how cold it is. I think I need a knit cowl. That looked like something I could do. Please send me the 411. Ciao! Nonnah

Oh my gosh, our little buddy looks so old in this picture! Here he is in his new sweater. Yep, it's buckeye colors left over from the baby sack. A long time ago, I bought him some Donnegal (sp?) tweed and a fancy book with adorable patterns. It remains unknit...but I did throw together this little number sans pattern. (There's still hope for the other one!) He does kind of have a funny body shape, though and the armholes were too big, so I tightened them up with some crochet. Of course, there's the "F." He can't wear it at night because he gets too hot, but during the day, he is more comfortable with his little sweater- no shivering for this pampered pooch. P.S. Thanks for the cute Halloween card for the boy Nanny-o, he loved it...oh, and he misses you too!

Presenting Tiny....

My friend's son has an imaginary friend- a bunny named Tiny. I just think it's the sweetest thing EVER. Apparently, Tiny can be naughty and is responsible for a whole slew of mischievous behavior at her house. Tiny also has been known to jump out the car window- requiring my friend to pull over to give him a chance to catch up. It's just so sweet. Tiny was born red, and has since metamorphasized to purple. I have wanted to knit Tiny for a long time, and I am so tickled to have finally completed this loving task. Tiny is safely in the arms of his boy- his sister is the one who got the elephante. Tiny is from the Last Minute Knitted Gifts book and is made from Swish Superwash from knitpicks. The yarn was soft and squishy just the way Tiny should be. I wish I had an entire army of these.

This is the picture that elder elf took of me! I am shocked by how well she did! The skirt is done : )(You can just ignore the pink bra showing through- I never would have guessed it would....oh well....live and learn) Also, while we are ignoring things, lets ignore those really white arms, shall we? Another view.... It was a fun project that knit up pretty fast. The pre-blocking picture was frightening: After looking at that I thought, "What a waste to make this weird thing!" But it stretched out well. I am very eager to see how it wears. I think I will debut it for the first world travellers who get in on Monday. I am not sure what time on Monday, but sometime. If any of such travelers are reading this, about what time do you land? That will give me an idea of what time you will be here.
